For over 52 years, House of Bamboo has been a cherished family-owned brand, known for our innovative and sustainable bamboo architectural materials. As we transition into a new era, we’re embracing the challenge of professional growth while maintaining our commitment to ethical sourcing, sustainability, and climate action. Our mission is to disrupt the building environment with bamboo, a remarkable plant, and we’re looking for a dynamic new team member to help us on this journey.

The Role: Hybrid Assistant with a Flair for Design and Organization

We’re on the hunt for a not-so-typical assistant who is part marketer, part graphic designer, and wholly dedicated to the cause. This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, challenges, and the satisfaction of seeing projects from concept to completion. You’ll be our right hand in a multitude of tasks, from graphic design to product knowledge, from event organisation to content creation. Your day-to-day will involve working closely with our head of marketing to produce high-quality, visually appealing materials that reflect the high-end market we cater to.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and production of visual content using tools like Canva, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
  • Creation of marketing materials, including signage, QR codes, digital guides, and online content.
  • Assistance in managing our online presence, including website updates and Shopify product listings.
  • Development of installation guides, product specifications, and brochures in both PDF and video formats.
  • Active participation in events, product training, and team meetings to stay informed and contribute to our collaborative environment.
  • Liaison with our copywriting team to produce engaging and informative LinkedIn content and other digital materials.
  • Innovation and creation of explainer videos and animations is a plus.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A passion for design, construction, and interior design, with a portfolio that shows your taste and understanding of aesthetics.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A detective-like curiosity, always ready to dive into a challenge and ask for help when needed.
  • A strong belief in sustainability, ethical practices, and the power of bamboo to change the world.
  • Excellent communication skills and a joy in collaborative work, even under stress.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a commitment to our office hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm in Botany, Sydney. No remote work is available at this time.
  • We are initially looking for someone to join our team for 3 days a week, with the potential to increase to 4 or 5 days depending on the individual’s skills and ability.
